Field Trip: Sub Marine Museum Surabaya

Geography: World Map and Flags

One thing I love best about homeschooling is that brothers can be best friends. They are helping out each other, back up each other and listen each other when they narrate what they have learnt !

Onion Dissection

Onions come in layers.
They are roots.
They are used for cooking and herbal medication.
They are hot if we look at them too close.
We love onions for cooking fried rice!

Little Homemade Strawberry Factory

When friends coming along, it means doing something together in a fun way! We have fresh strawberries from the market and empty jars in the cabinet. Let's make strawberry jam!

Ingredients:
- strawberry
- sugar
- water
How to make it:
- pick the green tip of strawberries
- wash the strawberries in running water
- cut into halves or small chunks as preferred
- put the pieces in a pan, add up some water
- put the pan on the stove
- cook using small fire
- keep stirring and add up sugar little by little
- DONE!
Things learnt during the process:
- teamwork
- careful using sharp objects
- careful using hot stove and pan
- homemade jam is healthier since it is not using chemical for preservation
- sugar can preserved food
- refrigerator can help food last longer
- eat fresh, homemade food rather than factory made
- sharing: 3 jars for the final result, we keep one only  :)

Happy Cooking!

Socialization: Going Out Together and Having Fun

It's bothering us to receive the question: what about socialization? Actually, socialization happens everywhere, anytime and anyplace. Whether we are going to the mall, play together, or simply having a cup of tea with friends. We learn to communicate, knowing each other hobbies and interest. One of our passion in life is making lots of friends...anywhere, anytime..

The pic was taken couple years ago during our homeschoolers' meeting. After the meeting we went to play in the playland. :)

Thanks for the lovely chat and time, Auntie Devi, Joel and Chloe!

Homeschooling and Babysitting

Sometime ago, when they were in their second year of homeschooling, my friend needed to go somehere without her cute baby boy. Then she left him for a couple hours and I was in charge for keeping an eye on her sleeping baby.
It was morning, and our time for doing homeschool work. Baby Justin added up happiness during those hours.
They left their study room and studied in the bedroom where Baby Justin asleep. They asked: We will take care of him. We will tell you when he's awake. Oh, so sweet... They loved learning while accompanied by a little baby by their side. When his Mommy came to pick him up, sadly they had to release him home...

Merry Xmas 2010 and Happy New Year 2011!

Definitely today is the last day to add up something in this blog this year, because tomorrow is going to be a packing time for going back our hometown. Yay! After finishing the boys' report sheets, updating the wonderful links in our blog is one of my priority. :)

I want to upload the pictures taken during the homeschooling days this semester, but I'm not sure I can put many since the internet connection is very slow. :(

So let's see what I can get to this afternoon.

Have a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year, Everyone!
PS. Jesus is the only reason we can celebrate Xmas!
