Hello, Friends...
Yes, from science project turned out to be business plan.
Isn't that exciting?
Dari proyek
sains menuju jenjang bisnis..
Asyiknya!
Lots of consideration and reading involved in our homeschool project and finally,
after our first attempt to make homemade soap (can be read here), our eldest son, Clay, 12 got an idea to create his own online soap store.
Kami membaca
Percobaan membuat sabun pertama kali kami membawa pemikiran baru buat anak
sulung kami, Clay, 12 tahun.
Dia tertarik
Really? Wow.
For such a great idea from a 12-year-old, I think we all should support him full-heartedly.
He said, everyone takes a bath everyday.
Not to mention on hot days, which can lead to taking shower more than twice a day. *grin*
Soap, according to him is needed and used on daily basis, so people will keep buying, if he sells good products.
We searched and learn a lot from soap making communities, websites, youtube, reading soap making books and learn about the chemical reactions along the way.
Dengan
munculnya ide tersebut, kami semua memberi dukungan penuh.
Pemikirannya,
setiap orang harus mandi. Apalagi kalau cuaca panas, maka orang bisa mandi
lebih dari dua kali. Kecuali yg malas mandi. Hihihi..
Sabun adalah
kebutuhan yang selalu digunakan sehari-hari. Oleh karena itu, kalau dia bisa
menjual sabun berkualitas baik, maka kemungkinan besar bisnisnya akan
berjalan.
Kami belajar
reaksi kimia.
Searching more about the making natural soap, limit our creation mostly using cooking ingredients, such as: palm oil, coconut oil, flaxseed oil, orange rind, lemon peel, carrot peel and such.
The colors we used in this Peacock Soap project only red and black.
Red derived from red food coloring and black from crushed activated carbon tablets.
We used the activated carbon to clean the skin from pollutants or other cosmetics which applied on skin.

According to Medical Dictionary,
Activated charcoal has often been used since ancient times to cure a variety of ailments including poisoning. Its healing effects have been well documented since as early as 1550 B.C. by the Egyptians. However, charcoal was almost forgotten until 15 years ago when it was rediscovered as a wonderful oral agent to treat most overdoses and toxins.
Here's the tutorial we learned from to make the soap.

So much fun in soap making process.
Dad (a.k.a Principal and Hubby), who is a business man and enterpreneur,
excitedly shared his knowledge about essential things we need to know in starting up our small business.
We learned new business word, like: SWOT - Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats.
We learn to make business plan: analyzing target market, distribution, pricing strategy and promotions.
We are discussing name of the brands and having so much giggling time hearing those silly names mentioned.
Begitu banyak hal menarik sepanjang proses pembuatan sabun.

Papa (alias Kepala Sekolah dan Sang
Suami), pelaku bisnis profesional, dg penuh semangat membuat seminar pendek
khusus untuk kami. *applause*
Kami belajar membuat rencana bisnis:
analisa pasar, distribusi, strategi menetapkan harga dan promosi.
Dan yang paling seru saat kami berdiskusi
utk nama toko online.
Banyak usulan konyol dan lucu bermunculan dan
itu membuat kami cekikikan tiada henti. :)
As we learn together with our kids,
we get to know each other better and ready to help one another to dig up our own potential.
Saat kami
belajar bersama anak-anak,
kami mengenali mereka lebih dalam dan
belajar saling
menolong menggali potensi diri kami masing-masing.
Happy Parenting and Learning!
